February 2019 sees the release of more music from Catching Flies, this time in the form of a unique collaboration with legendary UK Grime MC Trim. Trim has worked with the likes of James Blake (and released his ‘fascinating’ (Pitchfork) debut album on 1-800 Dinosaur), Mark Pritchard, Mumdance and Skream, and has won much praise and a cult following for his intricate lyricism. ‘The Light’ is highly textured, deeply melodic and effortlessly marries live instrumentation (guitars, harps, a string quartet) with warm electronics… providing a fitting backdrop to what may be Trim’s most vulnerable and soul-bearing verses to date. The release is accompanied by a music video, directed by Greg Barnes, who has recently directed videos for the likes of Henry Wu/Kamaal Williams and Poppy Ajudha.

Catching Flies’ music draws from a wide-ranging palette of influences including jazz, soul, hip-hop, house and electronica and has previously seen him handpicked by Bonobo to provide support on his World Tour. Having gathered tens of millions of streams, the support of Gilles Peterson, Annie Mac, Lauren Laverne, Julie Adenuga & Huw Stephens and a growing fanbase which has seen him perform across the UK, Europe, the USA and Asia.

September 2018 saw the welcome return of the London artist with ‘New Gods,’ a collaboration with two of London’s brightest stars: Jay Prince and Oscar Jerome. ‘New Gods’ was selected by The Guardian as one of their ‘Hot Tracks,’ and premiered on Complex (“With fans in just about every pocket of UK music, Catching Flies is no doubt a name we'll all be very familiar with in the coming months.”) ‘New Gods’ also received multiple radio plays from the likes of BBC 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson (“Yep! Killer”), Nemone, and Jamz Supernova (BBC1xtra) as well as artist support from the likes of Bonobo, Maribou State, Norman Jay, Horse Meat Disco and Groove Armada.

November 2018 saw the release of ‘Satisfied,’ ‘an intoxicating slice of dance music that gets a big boost from euphoric, gospel-y vocal samples’ (Bandcamp – New & Notable releases). ‘Satisfied’ has been supported and celebrated by the likes of Bonobo and George Fitzgerald (on his BBC Radio 1 Residency show). The release was accompanied by a short film about Catching Flies and his creative process, shot on 16mm film. It premiered on Nowness and received their pick of the day.
